Although the Americans with Disabilities Act is decades old, many businesses, including law firms, continue to treat it as a suggestion, rather than federal law, according to Eve Hill and Jason Turkish, two lawyers who represent plaintiffs in disability cases.
Binno's attorney, Jason Turkish, told CNN those are great accommodations for the other test sections, but they don't make passing the logic games section any more possible. "You can give him all the time in the world, he still can't draw a diagram," Turkish said.
"This young man has done everything his country has asked him to do. He went to war. He risked his life. Now, he is asking for the most basic of accommodations," said Gazvoda's attorney, Jason Turkish, noting his client doesn't want disability benefits or money.
"Athletes with disabilities don't want advantages, they simply want to compete equally," Turkish said. "This case ends as it began, with Ellis simply looking for a fair fight."
"What the MHSAA is saying makes absolutely no sense," attorney Jason Turkish told MLive.com. "They're saying that Ellis can have an interpreter, but an interpreter that he can't see. You have to be able to see a sign language interpreter in order to use it."
